September 21, 2024: The Colorado Buffaloes faced off against the Baylor Bears in a high-stakes game that would have significant implications for the Big 12 title race.
Baylor led early, up 24-10 as the second half neared a close, but in the final minute of the half Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders evaded a sack, rolled to his right, and found Omarion Miller who broke a tackle and sprinted for a 58 yard touchdown. This electric play would be a portent of things to come.
In the second half, Colorado and Baylor traded touchdowns and as the clock ticked away, the Buffaloes trailed 31-24.
With the clock winding down and Colorado facing a fourth-and-21 situation, Shedeur Sanders launched a Hail Mary pass to LaJohntay Wester in the endzone. Wester made a sliding catch as the game clock read all zeroes. The play and the point after sent the game into overtime with the score tied at 31-31.
In overtime, Colorado's defense stepped up, with Travis Hunter forcing a fumble by Baylor running back Dominic Richardson at the goal line, into the endzone for a touchback and a Colorado overtime victory.
