October 24, 2020: the Indiana Hoosiers pulled off a stunning upset against the #8 ranked Penn State Nittany Lions in a thrilling overtime game that ended with a final two-point conversion. Indiana was a heavy home underdog, but the Hoosier faithful were treated to one of their all-time great displays of grit and determination, let by quarterback Michael Penix Jr.

Indiana took a 17-7 lead into the locker room at halftime, but Penn State fought their way back to take the lead with under two minutes to play in the game. Penix Jr. led a 7 play, 75 yard drive in just a minute and twenty seconds for a touchdown, and scored on a two point conversion to tie the game with only 22 seconds remaining. The contest was destined for overtime.

Penn State scored first in OT and added a successful extra point. Facing a decision on whether to go for the extra point or attempt a two-point conversion to secure the win, Indiana opted to make the bolder move to seal the victory.

Penix Jr. took the snap and looked to throw, but the stout Penn State defense had good coverage. Pressure broke through and Penix Jr. stepped up in the pocket. Seeing a narrow opportunity, the quarterback made the decision to try and win it all with his legs. He sprinted left, outrunning pursuit and, diving with the ball outstretched, barely tapped the pylon with the nose of the ball. The try was good and Indiana was victorious, 36-35.

The play was reviewed by officials due to its high stakes and controversial nature, but the call was upheld, confirming Indiana's victory. This win was particularly significant for the Hoosiers, marking their first win against a top-10 ranked team since 1987. The game-winning drive and two-point conversion became a defining moment in Indiana football history, celebrated by fans and players alike.
