January 1, 2025: The quarterfinals of the 2024-25 College Football Playoff were underway at the Rose Bowl and the Ohio State Buckeyes had already struck, going up 7 - 0 over the Oregon Ducks. The Ducks had narrowly won the regular season matchup between these two blue blood programs, but this time the Buckeyes were looking to send their Big Ten rival home and end their season.

Quarterback Will Howard could hardly miss. Taking the shotgun snap on a 1st and 10 from the Oregon 42 yard line, Howard went through the play action motion to the running back then fired the ball deep.

Wide receiver Emeka Egbuka had his man beat. The Oregon defender had his back to the quarterback and was desperately trying to keep pace with Egbuka. The pass went over the defender’s shoulder, but he was in good position and the ball deflected off his arm. It bounced into Egbuka’s hands, but the deflection changed its trajectory enough that the Buckeye receiver had to adjust.

Still in stride, the ball bobbled. Egbuka collected it in just his right hand as he crossed the goal line for the second Ohio State touchdown of the day. A PAT later, it was 14 - 0 Buckeyes on the way to a blowout victory.

Egbuka had a day to remember, totaling 5 receptions for 72 yards, but it’s his sure-handed touchdown grab that cements his place in Ohio State history.
