January 1, 2025: The Rose Bowl, the 2024-25 College Football Playoff quarterfinal matchup between the #1 Oregon Ducks and the Ohio State Buckeyes was an absolute clinic from the opening snap as Ohio State built an early and commanding lead.

Already up 17 - 0, the Buckeyes had the ball again. It was 2nd and 5 from the Oregon 43 yard line when quarterback Will Howard faked the handoff and immediately looked downfield to the matchup he wanted.

Jeremiah Smith already had one touchdown on the day and was inexplicably wide open running toward the endzone. Howard launched and found Smith inside the 5. Smith caught the ball and walked in for his second score of the day as frustrated defenders looked on.

The credit for the touchdown has to mostly go to the Ohio State offensive staff, who on that play and many more like it left the Duck defense confused and off-balance. Smith was a big part of the day for the victorious Buckeyes, totaling 7 catches for a massive 187 yards and 2 touchdowns.
